I’m convinced there are two types of people in this world – those who use the folders feature to organize the apps on their phone and those who have apps littering their home screen(s) with no rhyme or reason. I’m the former (no judgment to the latter…but how!?), and no matter which category you fall in, you’re gonna want to keep reading.
While I 1000000% support and practice regularly unplugging, silencing notifications, and the “focus mode” option, I also consider my smartphone an amazing resource for health. I don’t know what I’d do without my “social”, “finance”, “communication”, “music”, “health” and “tools” categories, to name a few, and I believe they all contribute to my wellness in some form or fashion.
Over time I’ve added and subscribed to dozens of apps, keeping most and deleting a few, and have officially curated what I believe to be the ~perfect~ lineup of apps for my wellbeing. From physical health (pelvic health included) to mental, emotional, relationship, and financial health, there are thirteen apps I think every health-conscious woman would benefit from having on her phone too.
Whether you absolutely love them or would really prefer to leave them, smartphones are kiiiiiiiinda a part of life these days. So why not make the most of it and use your phone to your advantage? A “life hack”…if you will. These apps will ~actually~ promote and support a healthy lifestyle, so open that app store and get your fingerprint or double click ready to go.
THINK DIRTY APP
I’m not being dramatic…this app changed my life. After a laparoscopic excision surgery, stage IV endometriosis diagnosis, and multiple doctors predicting I would likely never get pregnant, I went on a search for answers to naturally manage my endo and increase my chances for fertility. Beyond getting off birth control, eating healthy, and managing stress, I also eliminated chemicals in, on, and around my body to reduce my toxic load.

The Think Dirty App scans product barcodes at the click of a button and rates them on a scale from zero to ten, “clean” to “dirty”, based on the type and number of toxic ingredients. I was shocked (and disappointed) to find that many of the products I thought were “safe”, really just had the packaging and marketing to make you think so. (This is called greenwashing, btw, and you can find a list of companies that have been accused and/or found guilty of this here.)
I’m now multiple years into this process and have settled on my favorite non-toxic skin care, beauty products, household cleaners, and laundry supplies, but I still use Think Dirty to find the cleanest option in a pinch at the grocery store when my go-to’s aren’t available.
If you’re on the journey to chemical-free living but just aren’t sure where to start, what to buy, or what product ingredients mean, you ~must~ get this app. Expect to spend a little extra time searching and scanning in the store to start, but once you find your favorites, you can be confident in your health-conscious choices from there on out.
SUPERHUMAN APP
I’ve fallen in love, and I don’t care who knows it. The Superhuman App is a library of guided meditations that are perfect for the woman on the go. As someone who’s always wanted to meditate but just can’t find ten minutes to sit quietly, these tracks are meant to be combined with things like running, showering, a nightly skincare routine, cooking, and even grocery shopping (!?!?!)…a style of meditation I can totally incorporate.
Studies show that regular meditation improves stress management, self-awareness, negativity, and creativity to name a few. I wanted those benefits (don’t we all!?) and have already noticed a difference in myself and my days just by having these meditations playing in the background of the life I’m already doing.
I highly encourage you to take advantage of their free, 14-day trial. After that, the app is $189 per year. In all honestly, I fully expected to cancel after the two weeks, but found that the value farrrrrrrrr outweighed the cost and am so excited to continue to explore, use, and benefit from the app.
FACEBOOK APP
Not everyone likes the Facebook App, and I get it…I don’t ~love~ everything about it either. But I think the beauty of this social media platform is hidden in the groups you can join, some of which provide helpful (and oftentimes daily) information and support alongside a community of like-minded followers with similar health concerns and goals.
I’m in groups for things like endometriosis support, postpartum healing and motherhood, homeopathy, meditating, and (shameless plug alert) women’s and pelvic health on the private Make + Manifest page.
If political posts, endless adds, or drama aren’t your cup of tea, take no shame in blocking or un-following the stuff you don’t want cluttering your feed. With a little effort, you can curate a Facebook experience that’s full of encouragement and inspiration for whatever your health objectives may be.
EASY KEGEL APP
Before we get into the number one app I recommend to my patients, let me remind you that kegels are not everything when it comes to pelvic health. In fact, kegels and pelvic floor strengthening are often the last thing I teach when treating bladder issues, pelvic pain, and pelvic organ prolapse. But if and when kegels are right for you, I highly recommend using the Easy Kegel App to maximize your efforts.
Not only does this app let you customize and track your kegel hold time, rest time, and repetitions and cue you to perform both slow and quick kegels (all features this pelvic rehab therapist ~loves~), but it also reminds you when to do your sets throughout the day. For those who have poor kegel compliance and every excuse in the book, I always recommend this app.

PS- If you like this app but want a little more guidance in the pelvic floor strengthening department, you’ve gotta check out my online course, The Bladder Blueprint. This self-paced training guides you through everything you need (including kegels) to finally fix your bladder issues for good.
PODCASTS APP
I was admittedly and regrettably late to the Podcasts App game, but these days you can find me with a podcast episode playing in my car, headphones, or google home speakers nearly every free minute of the day. Between my favorite topics like business, hormone health, self-growth, and exercise, there’s more than plenty to listen to to improve your wellbeing in every sense of the word.
Podcasts are such an easy way to learn no matter what subject interests you, and I especially appreciate finding new health information, options, and opinions I can implement into my own practices.
There are multiple other apps you can listen to podcasts on including Spotify and Google Podcasts, so choose the one that fits you and your smartphone best. Pick a show (or three) and tune in during your commute, lunchtime, workout, or chores, then watch your knowledge, passion, and motivation grow.
PINTEREST APP
I could spend hours on the Pinterest App scrolling through tasty recipes, outfit inspo, and home how-to’s…how about you?. But nowadays, this social media platform is so much more than pinning pretty pictures and planning parties. Pinterest has blossomed into a search engine that allows you to find and save super valuable resources (including those that benefit your health and wellbeing) at the click of a button.
When I went on the AIP diet to get my body ready to conceive, I found those recipes on Pinterest. When I wanted to learn more about syncing my life to my menstrual cycle, I turned to Pinterest, When I needed recommendations for toxin-free baby products…you guessed it…I looked on Pinterest.

And now for the ~best~ news…if pelvic health is what you’re interested in, the Make + Manifest Pinterest boards are a must-follow. This is the easiest place to search for information on urine leakage, pelvic pain, constipation, prolapse, and postpartum recovery, aaaaaaaand my favorite healthy recipes, dream home decor, and recent homesteading obsession.
EVERY DOLLAR APP
Budgeting, saving, and financial peace do not equal wellness, but they can sure as heck reduce stress and make it easier to plan and set aside money for health needs like medical appointments, supplements, quality food, and gym memberships. The Every Dollar App is my favorite resource for money management and where the Davis fam signs in regularly to set our monthly budget, log spending, strategize saving, and improve control and awareness of where our money’s going.
This app has helped up pay off debt, set aside money for projects, trips, and splurge-worthy purchases, and make our health a priority.
If money is a source of stress for you or limiting how you care for yourself, then it’s affecting your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. The Everydollar App won’t necessarily give you more money, but using it will provide you with a money management tool, which can make a world of difference.
LIBBY APP
I L-O-V-E to read books and they’re often where I get my most life-changing health information. The Libby App (plus a library card from your local library), allows you to electronically check out books from the “library” for free and get them sent to your phone or e-reader with a few simple clicks.
This app has unashamedly turned me into a two-books-at-a-time kinda gal – at lunch I read something that contributes to my wellbeing in some form or fashion, and at night I open a drama or rom-com fiction before falling asleep. Libby allows me to always have a new book ready, meaning ~zero~ excuses to not get my pages in.

I have to admit…I still like having the physical book when possible, especially for the health or self-help books that require all the underlying and highlighting and dog-earing (yes…I’m that person). But when you suddenly hear of a new book rec or stumble across a topic that you must know more about, the easily accessible and readily available Libby App is EV-ERY-THING.
NOTES APP
Do not underestimate the power of a blank screen. I consider the Notes App a small but mighty smartphone tool that can be greatly utilized for health. With everything from a gratitude list to tracking symptoms, keeping notes for or from a doctor to jotting down a quick thought to research later, the notes app is an easy and accessible tool that everyone should use.
At this very moment, I have eighteen different notes going that all have to do with my health, and I don’t have to worry about keeping track of scrap paper or flipping through a scribbled notebook. I also love the fact that I can send or scan my notes as needed and keep them organized in the way that works best for my mind.
If you’re forgetful, tend to misplace things, or just have so much going on in your head and need somewhere to keep track of it all, you miiiiiiight want to explore the simplicity a list of notes can bring to your life. This app is nothing flashy or fancy, but has easily become one of my most frequently opened tools every day.
KINDARA APP
I stopped taking birth control as one of many steps to try to conceive, and despite being told it would never happen for me, I got pregnant three months later. Needless to say, I barely had time to get my brand new period app up and runnin’ before I didn’t need it anymore. Once my period returned postpartum, I knew I wanted to remain off birth control and track my cycle using the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM), and the Kindara App has made this super easy.

FAM uses your basal body temperature (oral temperature first thing in the morning) and cervical fluid to track your menstrual cycle phases. Kindara keeps data points for all of the above, as well as sexual activity and mood. (If you want to learn more about the relationship between your mood and menstrual cycle you’ve gotta read “Do Less” by Kate Northrup).

There are multiple apps for cycle tracking including Clue, Glow, and MyFlo, but I like the Kindara interface best and can get all the features I need without paying extra. It’s ridiculously empowering to know what your body’s doing and to identify cycles and patterns with just a little bit of effort. If you’re interested in getting off birth control or just want to be more in tune with your menstrual cycle, this app should definitely be on your phone’s home screen.
INSTAGRAM APP
I think the Instagram App is the total package with a mix of beautiful images, entertaining reels, and the ability to keep up with friends. I also consider this a resource that can be crazy beneficial to one’s health by following the right people who generously share reputable facts and ideas with the sole purpose of helping others.
As a pelvic rehab therapist, I have no shame in sending patients to trustworthy profiles that I feel are producing quality content. Some of my favorites follows for women’s health include:
- @iam.moonli- a hormone specialist and functional nutritionist for endometriosis, gut health, and
- @menstruationqueen- a naturopathic doctor who focuses on hormone health and the menstrual cycle
- @drjonelebrighten- a naturopathic endocrinologist and clinical sexologist who talks all things women’s medicine with a no BS attitude (that I love)
- @birthuprising- a chiropractor who provides birth education through the lens of critical thinking
- @preventionpharmacist- a holistic doctor of pharmacy who covers juuuuuuust about everything you need to be a healthy human…seriously
Like Facebook, I want to remind you that if Instagram leaves a bad taste in your mouth, YOU can curate who and what you see based on the handles you choose to follow and interact with. Don’t hesitate to be intentional with how you fill your feed.
PAIRED APP
The health of your relationship is important too, and the Paired App has become a staple in my marriage. Paired prompts you daily to answer a question about yourself or significant other, take a quiz to see who knows the other one better, or play a game to determine if you’re on the same page with different subjects. My favorite part is that you can’t see the other person’s response or score until you participate yourself!
Some of our recent questions have been “what’s your secret ambition?”, “what’s your favorite way to set the mood for sex?”, and “what would you do on a date night where you’re not allowed to spend money?”. I’ve learned more about my Mr. Strong and Silent through this app than I have in any road trip or dinnertime conversation, and it’s also sparked communication around things we never even thought to talk about.
We were hooked after our seven-day free trial; after that, the app is $65 per year. I’m currently on a 47-day “activity” streak (I’m wayyyyy more consistent than Bob is), and it’s become a part of our day and benefit to our relationship that we didn’t know we needed.
GMAIL APP
Ok…hear me out. Your email inbox may seem like the least happy or healthy place to be, and it may in fact induce a level of anxiety that climbs with each unread message. Some health professionals even go so far as to recommend removing the email app off your phone for mental and emotional sanity.
I’m personally a fan of the Gmail App and have found a way for it to work ~for~ my health. Curious how? I have three separate email addresses – personal, professional…and health. When I find a newsletter or promotion that benefits my wellbeing and is worth giving my email address away, I just use that specific “heath” email address and those are the messages that get sent to my phone.
I appreciate emails from people I actually want to hear and learn from, because there’s no algorithm controlling what I see or drama fighting for my attention.
Now…if you like the idea of pelvic health info dropping in your inbox (mixed with a bit of shameless girl talk), I also send weekly love notes that you can sign up for here. Communication through email isn’t going anywhere, and I truly believe there are always new ways to optimize its use.
And that’s an app wrap! (Sorry…I had to.)
If I had to pare my phone down to just thirteen apps, these would be it (plus maps because I’m NOT going back to printing out directions). For the apps you already have on your home screen, it may just be a matter of optimizing your experience. And for the ones you don’t, I ~highly~ recommend giving them a try.
Wellness doesn’t have to be hard. In fact, I’m living proof that you can be a busy, multi-passionate, many-hat-wearin’, active woman and still have time to make your health, in every sense of the word, a priority. The key is strategic effort and intentional mindfulness, and using the phone you liiiiiiiiikely have attached to you 24/7 is an easy way to support that healthy lifestyle you’re always workin’ towards.
Now I’ve gotta know…which app are you downloading next? Tell me in the comments below! I L-O-V-E the idea of us being on the same app – tracking our cycles or listening to meditations or answering the same couples questions together. Eeeeeek!
My motto for the smartphone revolution is “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em”. These things aren’t going anywhere anytime soon (again…I’m not giving up my maps app!), so we might as well optimize the heck out of them. I truly believe better health can start with just one click, and my hope is that a few of these apps do just that for you too.
